How SSC shortlisted candidates for PET/PST
SSC applied a multi-step procedure including normalization, area-wise consideration and final answer key evaluation to prepare the shortlist.
- Normalization: Scores from different exam shifts were normalized as per SSC’s published procedure.
- Area-wise consideration: Candidates from Naxal/Militancy affected and Border areas were allocated to corresponding vacancies first, then to General Area vacancies.
- Final answer key: Representations on the tentative answer key were examined and the final key was used to evaluate all response sheets.
- Category change: Candidates who moved states and did not opt for reservation benefit from their state of origin were processed as UR of domicile; this affected 13,231 candidates, of whom 246 are shortlisted for PET/PST.
NCC bonus marks and tie-break rules
NCC bonus marks were provisionally added for candidates who claimed NCC certificates (not for Ex-Servicemen). SSC also specified tie-break criteria to resolve equal scores.
| NCC Certificate | Bonus Percentage | Bonus Marks (out of maximum) |
|---|---|---|
| NCC C Certificate | 5% | 8 |
| NCC B Certificate | 3% | 4.8 |
| NCC A Certificate | 2% | 3.2 |
If candidates had the same final score (including NCC bonus), SSC applied the following tie-break rules in order: higher marks in Part-A (General Intelligence and Reasoning); then higher marks in Part-B (General Knowledge and General Awareness); then higher marks in Part-C (Elementary Mathematics); then older date of birth; and finally alphabetical order of names.
