Age relaxation

Age relaxation is allowed as per the notification for certain categories and Ex-Servicemen; the cut-off date for age is 1 July 2026.

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (Unreserved): 3 years after deduction of military service rendered from actual age as on cut-off date
  • Ex-Servicemen (OBC): 6 years (3+3) after deduction of military service rendered
  • Ex-Servicemen (SC/ST): 8 years (3+5) after deduction of military service rendered
  • Departmental (Assam Rifles serving personnel): Relaxable up to age 40 for specified applicable trades as per Central Government instructions/orders

Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

The recruitment includes RFID-based PST (height, chest, weight) and PET (qualifying run). PST standards vary by category and region; PET standards differ for Ladakh Region.

PET details and RFID arrangements are provided below.

  • All India (except Ladakh): Male candidates must complete 5 km within 24 minutes.
  • Ladakh Region only: Male candidates must complete 1.6 km within 7 minutes.
  • RFID-based PST/PET will be conducted at Jorhat (Assam) or Diphu (Assam) centre; exact reporting dates will be intimated on the official website after successful submission of the online application.

Selection process

Selection proceeds through sequential stages; candidates must qualify each stage to move forward.

  1. RFID-Based Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Height/chest/weight measurement and the qualifying run.
  2. Documentation Verification (DV): Conducted alongside PST/PET reporting; candidates must present original payment receipt/challan and printed application form/notification copy.
  3. Computer Based Test (CBT): 100-mark objective paper. Minimum pass marks: 35% for General/EWS; 33% for SC/ST/OBC.
  4. Trade Skill Test: Computer Based Trade Test and a Practical Skill Test (qualifying only). Shortlisting for the Skill Test will be roughly 4 times the number of vacancies (1:4) per trade/category based on CBT merit.
  5. Detailed Medical Examination (DME) & Review Medical Examination (RME) as per Uniform Guidelines for Recruitment Medical Examination for CAPFs and AR.
  6. Merit List & Call for Training: Candidates qualifying all stages are placed in trade- and category-wise merit lists; final selection depends on merit position against vacancies.

How to apply

Candidates must apply online through the Assam Rifles recruitment portal and follow the prescribed payment and submission steps.

  1. Visit the Assam Rifles official website and click on “ONLINE APPLICATION”.
  2. Fill in the required details in the online application form.
  3. Pay the application fee online via the given link or offline at SBI Bank Counters using the generated challan.
  4. Upload a copy of the payment receipt/challan online.
  5. Print the completed Online Application Form and a copy of the notification from the Assam Rifles website to carry to PST/PET reporting.
  6. Submit the application well before the closing date; only one application per candidate is accepted.

Application fee

The fee and payment instructions for Group C posts are stated in the notification.

  • Fee: Rs. 100 for Group C posts; no fee for SC/ST and Ex-Servicemen candidates.
  • Payment: Fee must be deposited only via SBI Current Account No. 37088046712 favouring HQ DGAR, Recruitment Branch, Shillong-10, SBI Laitkor Branch (IFSC Code: SBIN0013883).
  • The fee is non-refundable and will not be adjusted against other expenses.

Documents required

Candidates must carry original documents for verification and upload specified documents during application.

  • Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate (or equivalent) for Date of Birth and Name proof.
  • Educational qualification certificate(s)/Diploma/ITI certificate for the trade applied.
  • Domicile/Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued by the competent authority.
  • SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificate in the prescribed format, where applicable.
  • Ex-Servicemen discharge certificate, if claiming ESM quota/relaxation.
  • Relaxed physical standard certificate for candidates belonging to Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorkhas, Dogras and Marathas (if applicable).
  • Valid ST certificate for ST candidates availing relaxation in physical standards.
  • Printout of completed Online Application Form and printed copy of the notification.
  • Original copy of the payment receipt/challan.
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) for departmental (serving Assam Rifles) candidates issued by the Commanding Officer/Officer Commanding of the Unit through the Colonel (Record), HQ DGAR.

Important conditions
