Eligibility and qualifications
Candidates must satisfy nationality, age, educational and sports qualification requirements as on 23 September 2026.

Approved sports achievements
Applicants must meet at least one of the listed sports achievement criteria to be eligible.
- Represented a State, Union Territory or India in a national or international competition.
- Won a medal in the Junior National Championships.
- Won a medal in the Khelo India Youth Games (age category above 18 years).
- Won a medal in the Khelo India Winter Games.
- Won a medal in the Khelo India University Games.
- Won a medal in the School Games Federation of India competition in the relevant sport.
- Represented a university in an Inter-University Tournament conducted by the Inter-University Sports Board.
- Represented a State or Union Territory school team in national school sports or games conducted by the All India School Games Federation.
Authorities eligible to issue sports certificates
Certificates must be issued by the authorities specified for each competition level.
- International competition: Secretary of the National Federation of the concerned game.
- National competition: Secretary of the National Federation or Secretary of the State/UT Association of the concerned game.
- Inter-University tournament: Dean of Sports or officer in overall charge of sports at the concerned university.
- National sports/games for schools: Director/Additional Director/Joint Director/Deputy Director in charge of school sports in the State Directorate of Public Instructions or Education.
- Khelo India Games: Designated officer or officer in charge from the Sports Authority of India.
Selection process and marking scheme
Selection will involve scrutiny and shortlisting of applications followed by field trials for shortlisted applicants; a minimum of 50 marks out of 100 is required to qualify.

Tie-breaking rules
In case of equal marks, preference will be given according to a prescribed order prioritising higher levels of representation and medals; if tied further, preference goes to the player with higher positions or multiple medals, and finally the younger applicant.
Field trials and logistics
Field trials will be conducted at a designated venue in Mumbai and shortlisted candidates will be informed by email.
- Field trial date, time and venue will be communicated to eligible applicants along with a unique registration number.
- Shortlisted candidates must attend trials at their own expense and bring original certificates and self-attested copies for verification.
- Requests to change trial date, time or venue will ordinarily not be accepted.
