Eligibility criteria

Candidates must meet the prescribed educational and sports qualification requirements and possess the necessary certificates within the specified achievement window to be eligible.

Educational qualification

Different posts carry different minimum educational requirements which must be in place as on the last date of application.

  • Head Constable (GD, Sports Quota): 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized Board/University, or equivalent Army qualification (for Ex-Army personnel).
  • Constable (GD, Sports Quota): Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized Board.

Sports qualification

Sports achievements must fall within 30 September 2024 to 30 September 2026 and be supported by the prescribed certificates; awaiting results or lacking certificates will render a candidate ineligible.

Sports qualification — Head Constable (HC/GD)

Eligible achievements for HC/GD are listed below and relate to representation and medal/position at specified levels.

  • Represented the country in a recognized international competition/meet, with clearance from the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
  • Represented a State/UT in the National Games/Championship organized by a National Sports Federation recognized by the Department of Sports, or in National Games organized by the Indian Olympic Association, with a medal or position up to 3rd place.
  • Secured 1st or 2nd position in an individual event in Inter-University Tournaments (for team events, the team must have reached the finals) conducted by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/Inter University Sports Board.
  • Won Gold or Silver medal in an individual/team event at Junior National level Games/Championship/Meet organized by a recognized National Sports Federation.

Sports qualification — Constable (CT/GD)

The CT/GD sportsperson eligibility covers state, school and university representation at specified national-level events.

  • Represented a State in Senior/Junior National level Games/Championships organized by a recognized National Sports Federation.
  • Represented a State School Team in National Sports/Games for Schools conducted by the All-India School Games Federation of India (SGFI), with a medal or position up to 3rd place.
  • Represented a State/UT in Khelo India University Games/Khelo India Youth Games/Khelo India Winter Games, with a medal or position up to 3rd place.
  • Represented their University in Inter-University Tournaments conducted by the Inter-University Sports Boards, in any sport/game.

Age limit and relaxation

Age criteria apply to all applicants and are defined with a clear date-of-birth range and specified category relaxations.

Age relaxation for meritorious sportspersons is available as per category and service record and must be supported by requisite certificates when sought by the Recruitment Board.

  • Unreserved (UR): 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 8 years (5+3)
  • SC/ST: 10 years (5+5)
  • Ex-Servicemen (UR): 8 years (5+3), after deducting military service rendered from actual age
  • Ex-Servicemen (OBC): 11 years (5+3+3), after deducting military service rendered from actual age
  • Ex-Servicemen (SC/ST): 13 years (5+5+3), after deducting military service rendered from actual age

Pay scale and other conditions

Selected candidates will be placed on designated pay levels and will be eligible for allowances as per government rules; additional conditions apply.

  • Head Constable (GD) Sportspersons: Level 4 — Rs. 25,500–81,100 (7th CPC).
  • Constable (GD) Sportspersons: Level 3 — Rs. 21,700–69,100 (7th CPC).
  • Dearness Allowance, HRA and other allowances admissible as per government orders; New Defined Contributory Pension Scheme applies.
  • Application fee: Rs. 100 for male UR/OBC/EWS candidates; fee exempted for all female candidates and for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen candidates.
  • Selected candidates must submit a bond (Rs. 1,00,000) to serve the Force for a minimum of three years as specified.
  • Posts carry all-India service liability; candidates may be required to serve anywhere in India or abroad.

Selection process

Selection proceeds through a sequence of verification and qualifying stages: identity and document verification, PST, Sports Trial Test and medical examinations. There is no written examination.

Documentation

All candidates will undergo document verification where original certificates for age, education, sports achievement, domicile and category must be produced; inability to produce originals will lead to elimination.

Marking of achievements

Merit is based on marks awarded for the single highest medal/position achieved during the eligible window (30 September 2024 to 30 September 2026); only the highest-scoring achievement is considered for each candidate.

Physical Standard Test (PST)

PST standards vary by sex and include minimum height requirements, chest measurements for males, and proportionate weight; relaxations for height/chest are provided for various categories and regions as specified in the official notification.

Sports Trial Test

Candidates who qualify the PST will appear before a Board of Officers for a Sports Trial Test which is qualifying in nature (pass/fail); a dope test may be conducted and no marks are awarded in the trial.

Medical examinations

Detailed and Review Medical Examinations will be conducted as per uniform CAPF guidelines; minimum visual standards, restrictions on colour blindness and tattoos, and other medical norms apply.

How to apply

Applications are accepted online only; offline applications will be rejected. Candidates serving in government/semi-government departments must apply through their employer with a No Objection Certificate.

  • Create a profile and upload the certificate/document for the highest sports achievement before applying; applications without this upload will be rejected during scrutiny.
  • Fill the online application form and pay the application fee (where applicable) through the website only.
  • Submit the application before 11 November 2026, 23:59 hrs, and use the correction window (12–14 November 2026) if modifications are needed.

Documents required at verification

Original documents must be produced at the time of physical verification for scrutiny and validation.

  • Educational certificates, sports certificates, domicile and caste certificates.
  • Matriculation/10th class certificate for verification of date of birth.
  • OBC (NCL), SC/ST or EWS certificate in the prescribed formats, if applicable.
  • No Objection Certificate (Annexure‑B) for candidates serving in Government service, where applicable.
  • Certificate for claiming height/chest relaxation (Annexure‑I), where applicable, and four latest passport-size photographs.
