North Western Railway’s Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Jaipur, has issued Notice No. 04/2026 (NWR/AA) inviting online applications for 2,008 Act Apprentice training slots under the Apprentices Act, 1961, for the year 2026-27. Eligibility criteria

The notification specifies academic, technical and age requirements that candidates must meet at the time of application; those awaiting final results must not apply.

  • Educational qualification: Passed Class 10 (or equivalent under the 10+2 system) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognised Board (no rounding off) and possessing a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the notified trade issued by NCVT or SCVT.
  • Age: Minimum 15 years (completed) and maximum 24 years (not completed) as on 6 November 2026.
  • Candidates must possess requisite qualifications as on the date of submission; candidates awaiting results are not eligible to apply.

Reservation and age relaxation

Reservation, documentation and age-relaxation provisions follow Central Government formats and standard rules as set out in the notification.

  • SC/ST candidates: 5 years’ relaxation in upper age limit.
  • OBC candidates: 3 years’ relaxation in upper age limit (Non-Creamy Layer certificate required on or after 1 April 2026, in Central Government format, plus OBC declaration).
  • Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 10 years’ relaxation in upper age limit; PwBD candidates must meet the notification’s specified fitness/percentage thresholds.
  • Ex-servicemen: Relaxable by up to an additional 10 years, to the extent of service rendered in the Defence Forces plus 3 years, subject to conditions described in the notification.
  • Caste, EWS, discharge and related certificates must be produced in the prescribed Central Government formats at the time of Document Verification.

Stipend, training duration and medical fitness

The notification states training and stipend will be governed by extant Railway Board rules; accommodation is not provided and a Contract of Apprenticeship must be signed prior to training commencement.

  • Stipend: As per extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board (no specific amount stated in the notification).
  • Accommodation: No hostel accommodation will be provided; selected candidates must arrange their own accommodation during training.

Selection process

Selection will be merit-based, prepared separately for each division/unit, trade and community as per the notification’s formula and rules.

  • Merit calculation: Simple average of Matriculation (10th) percentage (marks in all subjects) and ITI percentage (as per provisional/final certificate) in the trade applied for.
  • Tie-break: Older candidate preferred; if date of birth is identical, the candidate who passed Matriculation earlier is preferred.
  • Merit lists: Final merit lists are prepared division/unit-wise, trade-wise and community-wise and equal to the number of slots available for each category.
  • Document verification and medical certificate are mandatory for candidates finally enlisted.
  • No centralised merit list is formed; each unit’s merit list is independent and based on applicants for that unit.

Application fee and submission guidelines

Applications must be submitted online only at the RRC Jaipur portal between the specified dates; fee payment is through the integrated online gateway after verifying the application, and no edits are permitted after payment.

  • Application fee (non-refundable): ₹100 for all candidates except SC/ST, PwBD and Women, who are exempt.
  • Payment modes: Debit card, credit card, Internet Banking or similar modes via the integrated payment gateway; transaction charges are borne by the candidate. An e-receipt is generated on successful payment and should be retained.
  • Online process highlights: Provide a valid 12-digit Aadhaar number (original Aadhaar must be produced at Document Verification), select only one Division/Unit, upload photograph and signature per prescribed specifications, pay fee and download a printout of the submitted application.
  • Photograph and signature specifications: Recent colour photograph (3.5 cm × 3.5 cm, JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI, 20 KB–70 KB) and scanned signature (3.5 cm × 2.5 cm, JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI, 20 KB–30 KB) as described in the notification.
  • Applicants must ensure name, father’s name and date of birth exactly match Matriculation certificate; discrepancies found during Document Verification will lead to cancellation of candidature.

Important instructions
